Places of interest in Spain - Haro

This town is administered by the municipality. Haro is located in northern Spain and is a part of La Rioja province. Spain is most famous for wine and Haro is popular for Red Wine. Apart from Red Wine, the town is also popular for many monumental buildings. A brief introduction to this beautiful little town is given here:

Museum:
This museum called the Guggenheim museum is located just about one kilometer from Haro. This museum of modern art was established in 1997. Many works of art produced in the 20th century by some of the renowned artists are on display. Popular among them are the works of art created on titanium, glass and limestone. The museum is under several expansion programs also.

Vizcaya Bridge:
This Bridge is at a distance of about 10 kilometers from Haro. This iron bridge is believed to have been constructed in the year 1893 under the supervision of the renowned architect Alberto de Palacio of Basque county. Built on the Ibaizabal River, this iron bridge is constructed using steel cable and steel structures. It is constructed at a height of 45 meters from the river. This transport bridge is recognized as a World Heritage structure by UNESCO.  It is a place no visitor should miss.

Wine festival:
As said earlier, Red Wine is the most popular product of Haro. Every year experts in the wine industry meet here for a wine festival. The festival is held after harvest in autumn.  If you plan to visit Haro, then make it a point to visit this town in the last week of June. This is because on June 29, the festival called the ‘battle of wine’ is held in this town. One of the important aspects of the festival is the local church where wedding cake is displayed. The other feature of this festival is that the local people cover every other local with wine skins and they congregate on the street to celebrate the festival. The Red Wine produced here is most popular throughout the world. It is a spectacular event and a pleasure to witness this beautiful event.

Bilbao:
This city is just about one kilometer from Haro. This is a city with spectacular buildings and many other places which are of interest for tourists. Bilbao is also popular as a cultural city. This city can be reached by train or by road as well.
